Toe Photo Bomb

This image is a combination of a photo I took in Arizona with my toes purposely showing plus some of the bark that I featured in yesterday's and todays images that I photographed on a walk above my back yard.

It sounds kind of funny to talk about a walk above your yard, but here at RisingRims Studios we are at the base of the cliffs we call rimrocks. So literally a couple hundred back from the house the elevation is a hundred plus feet higher. I guess I have to look up at an angle between 45 and 60 degrees to see some sky to the north.

Happy 4th of July

This image is my # 2897 called 3 faced. I spent about half an hour with one of my collectors yesterday trying to find an image they saw that I posted, but they didn't know the date or the image number. You can imagine how difficult it is to find an image among nearly 3000 choices. That is why I like to mention the number. It makes it much easier to find and print for you should you like it.

This image started as a photograph of a face but you can see that it is both right side up, upside down and sideways. Did you ever feel that way? Or did you ever have that impression of someone else. Not a very positive thought, but I loved the colors and overall effect.

My standard reminder that one of my artworks of your choosing can be yours, ready to hang, for a small monthly subscription at https://www.patreon.com/joelbowers

Statue of Imagery

Today I am sharing one of my 6 new artworks called Statue of Imagery here.
I have resolved to write more about my artwork and process daily, so I must single out a piece and talk about it a bit.

People are not as interested in the mechanics of how I create these as they are about why I paint what I do.  I have chosen not to pursue realistic images because that takes a different kind of talent than I have. It encourages the perfectionist in us and thus for me results in automatic negative thoughts (neither of which is healthful).

I am a process painter. I just start putting strokes and shapes on the screen and keep meddling with the results until I wander accidentally into something that I can love (or at least tolerate).

I paint daily as a way of making a difference in this world. I am hopefully providing enjoyment for my viewers and collectors as I pursue a path that is interesting to me and will hopefully leave a legacy beyond my lifespan of value.

Complexity Returns To Todays Images

Ten new images in "Today's" gallery at www.risingrims.com,

I know how important it is to remove all but the most essential in good writing. I think the same can be said for painting. I have a lot to learn to be able to communicate in simple but powerful terms.  Todays images are riddled with complexity. They may start out simple but I keep adding elements to make them more pleasing to my eye.

As my eye becomes more educated, I appreciate the simple and the complex.

Gaze on these creations for a minute and take your mind away from the mundane worries it tries to trap you in. Don't sweat the small stuff because all stuff is small stuff.

Have a great day,
